Wedge Flip Flops

Wedge flip flops are a type of flip flop that has a thicker sole than regular flip flops or sandals. Although they have been around for some decades they are regaining popularity all over the world. The reasons for this are many. There has been a renewed interest in some major clothing accessories companies in their design and manufacture. The reason for that is because they realized that if presented in a fashionable and tasteful way people would take more interest in them. This has resulted in a multitude of designs and colors for the wedge flip flops.

Another reason why there is big interest in wedge flip flops is that because they have a thicker sole they are more comfortable to walk in. Although the thickness may vary and some of the designs have very thick soles which are practically high heels and they need a little bit more practice to walk in them. Generally no matter what the design is that is flip flops or wedge flip flops, they tend to be more of a summer time accessory, although some folks will wear them with socks when things get a bit cooler.

Another interesting thing about wedge  flip flops is that they come in a variety of colors and designs. As far as colors go there is practically every shade of every color available and sometimes all on one flip flop. So if you are into more conservative colors like black or grey or if you’re into some jazzy variations its all there for you. Some of the big time fashion houses have joined the trend and they design some very fashionable and expensive designs that can be worn to a royal wedding. But for the most part wedge flip flops are quite inexpensive and can be bought from clothing or related stores.

Wedge flip flops came into fashion in the early 1970’s and have been in and out of fashion ever since. As soon as they came out they were seen as a iconic summer time wear. Because of the thicker and more comfortable wedge shaped sole, study’s have shown that they are less difficult on ones back or spinal column. And because they have a stylish look about them, reminding one of high heels but much healthier for the body especially if one had to walk on loose gravel or even sand, the risk of injuring oneself is much less in wedge flip flops. So it’s easy to see that they combine the practicality of regular flip flops while combining the appeal of high heals. Now with all the multitude of designs and colors it looks as if though the wedge flip flops are here to stay.
